Description:
Kalidas and Suman Mehra want their son, Dushyant Kumar, to enjoy typical young adulthood – socializing, staying out late, and dating. However, Dushyant is devoted to a strict, pious life, filled with prayer, abstinence, and early mornings. Influenced by Professor Vishwamitra, who is heartbroken over a past love, Dushyant joins a group of young men who have vowed celibacy. Sent to Mannali by his father, Dushyant meets and falls in love with a young woman named Shakuntala (Shaku). Upon returning home intending to propose, he discovers Vishwamitra romantically involved with Shaku. Enraged that Shaku reciprocates Dushyant's feelings, Vishwamitra vows to sabotage their relationship and marry her himself.
