Description:
Grief-stricken after losing her husband and son, peasant Zhang Meili establishes a school in the arid deserts of northwest China. The arrival of Xia Yu, a bright and optimistic woman from Beijing, brings a close bond between the two women as they discover how to best educate the children through their contrasting personalities.
