Description:
Captain Gottfried Hinrichs, a German ship captain, retires to his Bavarian home, hoping for peace when his daughter Barbara returns. She's now a commercial pilot and has a new partner, a detail her mother Lisbeth tries to downplay. When Barbara and her boyfriend, Kamal Abu Khalil, a Palestinian unemployed would-be pilot, arrive for Christmas Eve, cultural differences arise, and Gottfried struggles to accept Kamal's Islamic traditions. Though initially resistant, Gottfried eventually softens, but the couple faces challenges due to conflicting religious expectations. The situation worsens when Gottfried’s parents unexpectedly join them, and Barbara feels overlooked as Kamal starts an online business with a friend.
