Description:
Tribune Marcus Aulus, exiled from Rome for suspected sympathy towards Christians, is assigned to oversee an aqueduct project in the harsh, outlying regions of the Empire. Centurion Gaius, resentful of his replacement by Marcus, sparks a slave revolt and then shifts the blame onto the Tribune. Amidst the chaos, five slaves escape and join Balisten, a farmer wrongly forced into labor on the aqueduct. Balisten, impressed by Marcus's fairness, helps the Tribune survive the uprising. Together, the six slaves, guided by Marcus, devise a plan to secure their freedom through gladiatorial combat. Marcus aims to clear his name and reunite with his fiancée, Claudia, who has recently arrived from Rome. Gaius intends to kill Marcus and conceal the truth about the slave rebellion. The story unfolds with frequent clashes both within and outside the arena.
