Description:
Trecartin calls *Tommy-Chat Just E-mailed Me.* a narrative video short set both within and outside of an email. The film features stylized characters – Pam, a lesbian librarian with a baby in a modern hotel; Tammy and Beth, who live in an apartment filled with art installations; and Tommy, in a secluded lake house. Pam, Tommy, and Tammy are all played by Trecartin, who frequently shifts between male and female personas with his distinctive makeup. The self-absorbed characters are constantly communicating via phone and online, displaying fragmented attention spans.
