Description:
Misha, a boy who cannot speak, embarks on a dreamlike journey with his father and two men. They travel on a vintage Soviet locomotive carrying stolen coal, planning to sell it as they cross the vast, undefined steppes of Russia. Interwoven with this story are recurring, enigmatic scenes from a traveling circus. Many of the circus performers are individuals the four travelers meet during their journey along the overgrown railway. The film blends magic and realism, underscored by the decaying communist landscape and a darkly humorous tone.
