Description:

Four Moods was a collaborative project assembled by leading Chinese-language directors in the late 1960s to help Li Han-hsiang with his financial difficulties. King Hu's "Anger," based on the Peking opera San Cha Kou, is considered a highlight. The film, featuring opera music and striking visuals, portrays the escalating conflict between political players, those seeking revenge, and wandering individuals within an inn. Li Han-hsiang’s "Happiness," inspired by Strange Tales of Liaozhai, follows a kind ghost finding peace. Meanwhile, Pai Ching-Jui's "Joy" and Lee Hsing's "Sadness" examine the consequences of encounters between men and female spirits.
