Description:
As the head of the nunnery nears death, the sisters are split as they prepare for an election. Virginia leads the younger nuns who want to modernize the school: introducing science, building a bathroom, and fostering a more open atmosphere. Their choice for head is Sister Magdolna, who has attended secular universities. Meanwhile, Sister Király Erzsi rallies the seminarists against the older nuns' rigid rules and the institution’s gloom. However, Magdolna is reluctant to participate, troubled by Virginia's inappropriate feelings for her and the lengths she's willing to go to win.
