Vietnamese Lady (1992)

Hong Kong businessman Kiu is too busy for romance. While in Saigon, he offers financial assistance to a struggling young woman named Shun and her family if she agrees to live with him. Driven by obligation but lacking affection, Shun accepts, too shy to even tell her boyfriend Lik that she recently lost her virginity to him. A romantic connection doesn't develop between Shun and Kiu in Hong Kong, and Kiu begins drinking heavily. Kiu’s secretary, Sandy, takes advantage of his vulnerability and seduces him. Shun witnesses this, deeply upsetting her. Later, Shun is assaulted and rescued, then befriends a Vietnamese photographer – a staged encounter orchestrated by Sandy to eliminate Shun and secure Kiu for herself. But the plan unravels. Will Shun abandon Kiu and the money to return to Lik? Will Sandy maintain her manipulative control? And will those she hired to set Shun up turn on her?
