Bread/Camellia’s Square (2008)

In the Tuscan village of Gorgiti, near Arezzo, Carlo and Grazia tirelessly work night and day, baking bread in their wood-fired oven and distributing it to local sellers – a tradition passed down through generations. Meanwhile, in a Rome suburb, young people live lives seemingly worlds away from the rural pace of life. The film follows both groups at various points in their lives, highlighting a stark generational divide. Blending documentary and fiction, the movie explores these contrasting existences, using their differences to illuminate a complex relationship.
