Description:
Germany, 1934. Thirteen-year-old Jan, raised by his father alone, faces uncertainty when his communist father is accused of murder and likely to be executed. Living with his aunt, Jan finds an ally in Max, who promises to uncover the truth about his father's fate. During a secret meeting, Max is shot by the SA. Jan escapes on a barge, where Erika, the captain's daughter, and the boatman hide him. They work together to help Jan evade the police and find his father, who is secretly alive.
