This is the third and final installment in a documentary series that began in 1991 with "The Power of Generalissimo." It covers the most significant events in the Dominican Republic between August 16, 1952 – the date of Rafael Trujillo's arrival as President – and November 8, 1961, when Ranfis Trujillo and his family left the country. The film highlights Trujillo's trip to Spain, the Peace Fair, the kidnapping of Galíndez, the June 14th invasion, the assassination of the Mirabal sisters, the dictator's execution, and the deaths of those involved in the plot against him. René Fortunato provides a historical review that, while comparable to many literary works, has become a highly utilized educational resource in film.
