Description:
This Tamil film echoes the themes of Balaji Sakthivel's *Kadhal*. Mechanic Vetrivel (Rahul) falls for Tamilselvi (Meera), but her father Kathirvel (Udhayakumar) forbids the relationship due to caste differences. Vetrivel then kills Meera's cousin and is imprisoned. Years later, Meera's brother Senthil (Udhay) resolves to bring the lovers together. Will he succeed, and how will society react to their union? *Sooryanagaram* explores the issue of caste prejudice in the Madurai region. However, the film feels derivative of recent works on the same topic, strongly resembling *Kadhal*. The story and screenplay are weak, leading to an illogical ending. J.K. Venky's cinematography and Fen Viallee's music are commendable. Ultimately, it’s a familiar story presented in a new package.
