Description:

This film offers a powerful look at the leadership of the Black Panther Party in 1967. It includes prison interviews with Huey P. Newton, Minister of Defense, and Eldridge Cleaver, Minister of Information. The film also shows footage of the aftermath of a police attack on the Los Angeles chapter headquarters, demonstrations calling for Huey's release at Hutton Memorial Park and the Alameda County Courthouse, and Bobby Seale, a co-founder, reciting the party's Ten-Point Platform. Originally released as "Off the Pig" by Newsreel, this widely distributed film is now known as "Black Panther." The short film features artwork by activist artist Emory Douglas.
