Description:
Ace Eli Walford, a 1920s stunt flyer, travels the rural landscapes of Kansas with his eleven-year-old son Rodger, moving from town to town in the summer of 1923, shortly after World War I. Eli, emotionally childlike, and Rodger, surprisingly wise for his age, embark on a journey to the seemingly mythical destination of San Willow. Essentially, "Ace Eli and Rodger of the Skies" follows their adventures as they travel from one place to another. Eli struggles with relationships, often leaving women feeling unfulfilled. Rodger frequently has to rescue his father from trouble. He also copes by drinking, smoking, and crying for his late mother each night.
