Description:
The film begins in producer George Jessel's office, where he's meeting with writers to develop a movie about Eva Tanguay. Jessel is dissatisfied with their current approach and suggests they speak with Eddie McCoy, Tanguay's former partner, for a more authentic story. McCoy claims to have found Tanguay working as a waitress in Indianapolis in 1912, where a fight between singers Larry Woods and Charles Bennett led to them both being hospitalized. McCoy convinced the restaurant manager to hire Tanguay as a replacement, but her performance was unsuccessful, and she left his life after Bennett became her accompanist. The writers then consult Bennett, who now heads a music publishing company, and he dismisses McCoy's account, stating that Flo Ziegfeld was actually responsible for discovering Tanguay for his Follies.
