This BBC short film adapts J.G. Ballard's novel *Crash*. The story emerged from a period of intense personal grief for Ballard, following the sudden death of his wife in 1964. This was a time of significant literary experimentation for him, including the fragmented *Atrocity* and unusual collages. Ballard shifted his focus from internal psychology to the external world, quantifying and eroticizing reality. He explored these themes through various projects, like concrete poetry, impressionistic film reviews, and an unrealized multimedia play centered on car crashes. He later staged a gallery exhibition featuring wrecked cars, accompanied by performances and audience interaction.
