Description:
"Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait," reportedly filmed by over a thousand Syrians, impressionistically documents the destruction and atrocities of the civil war. The film combines eyewitness accounts captured on mobile phones and shared online with footage shot by Bedirxan during the siege of Homs. Bedirxan, an elementary school teacher in Homs, contacted Mohammed online to ask what he should film while he was there. Mohammed, working in exile in Paris, is tormented by guilt as he witnesses the horrors from a distance. The self-reflexive film also explores how he is haunted by dreams of a Syrian boy killed for stealing his camera.
