Description:
Gitta, once a celebrated prima donna, leaves her husband and son to pursue her passion for the theater, traveling to Russia with an actor named Vándori. She finds popularity as a cabaret dancer among Russian officers. A Russian colonel becomes enamored with her, and Vándori arranges a clandestine meeting between them. The colonel desires Gitta as his mistress, but she refuses. Vándori, a gambler, squanders Gitta's jewelry and then, ultimately, Gitta herself. Years later, at the start of World War I, Gitta escapes Russia with the colonel and returns home to find her family. She discovers her husband has died and her son has vanished. She rebuilds her life as a successful actress. A young man falls in love with her, and she recognizes him as her son.
