Description:
In 1964, Julia Welling travels to Bavaria to establish and run a children's home. Haunted by her father's Nazi past, Julia is dedicated to democratic values and believes in treating children with respect. Her arrival is challenging due to the region's conservative culture; she faces resistance when she intervenes in cases of child abuse. She connects with a young American officer involved in the demobilization of US troops in Germany, who assists her in finding a suitable building for the home. After successfully setting up the facility and beginning operations, Julia becomes the target of a violent farmer who attempts to burn down the building in retaliation for her protecting his son.
