Description:
Steffen Teuffel relocates from Berlin to Krummenwalde, a declining small town in Brandenburg, with his wife Beate, who runs the local beverage company, and their children. Their son Kai rejects college and works at the town's only pub; their daughter Lisa fixates on losing her virginity; and their youngest, Sophie, draws attention by displaying a gold coin she found in the lake. Lutheran vicar Juchem, seeking funds for a new church roof, acquires the coin and enlists Steffen’s research skills and French language abilities to uncover a local legend about a lost Napoleonic treasure hidden in the lake, with the promise of a three-way split. He teams up with mayor Gerd Jänicke, who hopes to revitalize the town, to research the archives.
