Description:
Robespier Galabov (Yakovlev) and his family live in a cramped communal apartment, longing for a home of their own. When they learn their new apartment will take a decade to build, Galabov meets Rangel Lelin (Gospodinov), a local builder known as the "Past-Master," who promises to construct a private house in just one month. Throughout the construction, Lelin repeatedly blackmails Galabov for more money, threatening to sabotage the project. The house is eventually completed, but the opening is marred by a faulty fireplace chimney. After days of failed repairs, Lelin's brother appears and discovers a hidden compartment within the chimney – a hat, revealing Lelin’s deceitful tactics.
