Description:
Imagining October examines art and politics during the Cold War's end, linking pre-1985 Russia with Thatcher's Britain. The title references the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution and Sergei Eisenstein’s 1928 film *October: Ten Days That Shook the World*. The film project started with a 1984 trip to the Soviet Union, organized by the British Film Institute. Jarman was invited to present *The Tempest* in Moscow and Baku with Sally Potter and Peter Wollen, and asked to create a short film for the London Film Festival that November.
