Memorial Project Nha Trang, Vietnam: Towards the Complex – For the Courageous, the Curious, and the Cowards. (2001)

Shot in Vietnam's Indochina Sea, this 13-minute video follows young men as they work together to move empty cyclos across a rocky, sandy ocean floor. They pull, push, and pedal the vehicles, frequently surfacing for air to avoid drowning. As the water deepens and obstacles grow, the journey becomes harder. Eventually, the drivers leave their cyclos and swim towards an underwater "city" – a memorial built from netting between boulders, representing the countless Vietnamese boat people lost after the war.
