In 1931, young director Mário Peixoto premiered his film "Limite" in Rio de Janeiro, stunning audiences with its poetic and visually impressive imagery. Widely regarded as the greatest Brazilian film ever made, it has remained unreleased commercially. Remarkably, "Limite" was Peixoto's only film. Director Sérgio Machado pays tribute to Peixoto – known as Maçarico to his friends – in this documentary. Using Peixoto’s diary, footage from "Limite," his unfinished 1933 film "Onde a Terra Acaba," and the short "O Homem do Morcego" (1980), alongside insights from Olga Breno, Ruy Solberg, Nelson Pereira dos Santos, and Walter Salles, the film explores the life and work of this enigmatic filmmaker.
