Jungle Love centers on several individuals who have vanished into the jungle: a woman who has abducted her sister's child, an affluent couple with their local guide, a restless military unit, and an unidentified tribe. The concept of disappearance carries a different weight in Sanchez’s homeland of Mindanao, a region notorious for kidnappings due to a long-standing conflict between the government and separatist groups. Inspired by a personal experience, Sanchez was struck by a photograph identifying a friend as among the missing. A pervasive sense of unease permeates Jungle Love, as stories and identities blur in the isolated spaces where people seek to escape their own lives.
