Description:

Jimi Hendrix's first American performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival is widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking live shows in history. Though already known in the UK, Hendrix and his band, The Experience, were largely unknown to American audiences. They deliver electrifying versions of blues standards like "Rock Me Baby" and "Killing Floor," a powerful interpretation of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone," and new songs from his debut album. The set culminates in a legendary moment: Hendrix sets his guitar on fire during a frenzied performance of "Wild Thing," a sight even the song's writer hadn't envisioned. He uses feedback and distortion to create intense, emotionally charged versions of the songs, forging a new path in rock music.
