In an alternate world where the United Republic of Great Japan is the world's dominant power, a new generation of athletes is breaking records and winning every competition. Faced with international pressure, the governing sports organization launches an investigation, but the entire team vanishes. Their mission: to uncover the truth behind "Athlete-roid," a project by Koumoto, an executive director of Great Japan Heavy Industries. Koumoto plans to control the global market for military robots by deploying an army of seemingly unbeatable "Athlete-roids."
