Description:
In northern Colombia's Guajira peninsula, the Wayuu indigenous people maintain their ancient traditions. When young women start menstruating, they are expected to spend a year in isolation within a basic hut, visited only by a select few women, and forbidden from any contact with men. The grandmother is primarily responsible for guiding the girl through this period of seclusion, preparing her for womanhood. At twelve, Pili chooses to follow this custom for her grandmother's sake, but is she truly prepared for what awaits her?
