Description:
The film chronicles the life of August Strindberg (1849-1912), the prolific Swedish playwright, novelist, poet, essayist, and painter. It explores his life through his extensive letters and writings, spanning from his first work, the play "The Free Thinker" (1869), to his later, posthumously published "The Occult Diary" (1977). The film also features his three wives, Siri von Essen, Frida Uhl, and Harriet Bosse, as well as their children Karin, Greta, and Hans. Strindberg's first drama, "The Free Thinker," which tells the story of a young man who defies family and tradition to pursue his beliefs, foreshadows the author’s own life.
