Description:
The film follows seven women prisoners, each with distinct pasts, confined within the same prison walls. Newcomer Ding Qing Er arrives with tears, but is quickly told it's too late for sorrow. As the story unfolds, it gradually reveals the individual struggles that led each woman to incarceration: a mother clinging to the hope of a promised escape to America, a prostitute scarred by rape, a lesbian betrayed by the Red Army, and others. Qing Er herself is imprisoned for stealing life-saving medicine for her ailing husband. Through shared experiences and the compassion of some guards, they forge an unbreakable bond and rediscover their sense of dignity.
