Description:
Mathilukal ("Walls") is a film based on a short story by the acclaimed Malayalam author Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. The story is personal, set in India during the 1940s as Basheer was imprisoned in Trivandrum Central Jail for his involvement in the independence movement. The film begins with Basheer in a police lock-up, comfortable among fellow minor offenders. He has been held there for over a year without a trial.
