“May Your Memory Be Love“ – The Story of Ovadia Baruch (2008)

In March 1943, twenty-year-old Ovadia Baruch was deported from Greece to Auschwitz-Birkenau with his family. Upon arrival, his extended family was murdered in the gas chambers. Ovadia survived until his liberation from the Mauthausen concentration camp in May 1945. While at Auschwitz, he met Aliza Tzarfati, a young woman from his hometown, and they formed a loving relationship amidst horrific conditions. This film tells their extraordinary story of love and survival in Auschwitz, their miraculous reunion after the Holocaust, and the life they built together in Israel. This film is part of the "Witnesses and Education" project, a collaboration between the International School for Holocaust Studies and the Multimedia Center of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The series features Holocaust survivors sharing their life stories – before, during, and after the Holocaust – filmed on location where the events occurred.
