Description:
Following World War II, 4,000 Polish families immigrated to Australia – Jews, former Fascists, anti-Communists, and others seeking refuge. They lived for two years in a large hostel, housed in separate barracks even for married couples, while working to repay the government for their passage. Amidst the challenges of a new life and facing unfamiliar prejudices, Julian, married to Anna with a son, develops feelings for Nina, who reciprocates. As they navigate these changes and adapt to Australian culture, traditional values resurface. Julian must decide the future of his love and family, while Nina seeks a path forward.
