John & Yoko’s Year of Peace (2000)

It's 1969. Amidst war and unrest, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, newly married and determined to promote peace, announce their mission to change the world. Surrounded by journalists in a hotel room, they invite people globally to join them in a symbolic "bed-in." Though dismissed by some as naive, their actions sparked a wave of hope for an end to conflict. This film features rare footage from that pivotal year, including their wedding, a debate with cartoonist Al Capp, discussions with media theorist Marshall McLuhan, and a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Twenty years after Lennon's death, Yoko Ono and others involved in the peace movement reflect on the extraordinary events of that time.
