Description:
In the impoverished Bowery district of New York City, Dr. Tom O'Hara begins work at a public clinic. Local gang leader Sock Dolan views Dr. O'Hara's efforts to get his brother hospitalized with suspicion, holding hospitals responsible for his mother's death. Sock assists racketeer J.R. Mason in supplying the clinic with food, unaware that Mason is distributing substandard and often contaminated provisions. When several patients, including Sock's brother, fall ill from food poisoning, Sock is kidnapped by Mason to ensure his silence. Dr. O'Hara must then find a way to rescue Sock and expose Mason's dangerous contamination of the hospital's food supply.
