Description:
Adapted from a significant work of Middle Kingdom Egyptian literature, *The Eloquent Peasant* blends folk tale and poetry. The story unfolds between 2160 and 2025 BC when a peasant named Khun-anup and his donkey encounter the lands of the noble Rensi. Khun-anup's possessions are seized, and he is falsely accused of theft. He appeals to Rensi, who is captivated by the peasant's persuasive speech and informs the king. The king, recognizing the injustice, postpones judgment to hear more of Khun-anup’s eloquence. The peasant makes nine pleas before his goods are finally restored.
