Dina (Maria Santiago) is a teenager raised by her grandmother and working as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. With her grandmother as her only companion, she escapes into fantasies and comic books, which only deepen her unrealistic view of the world. Because of this and her naiveté, Dina becomes involved with Django (Luis Lucas), a dangerous man who plans to use her to lure victims and rob them. During a planned robbery in a taxi, the driver becomes suspicious, and both Django and Dina shoot him. Dina flees, but it's unclear if she's truly learned anything. The story takes place in Portugal during a period of significant change in the mid-1970s, as the military government drafts a new constitution and social shifts occur nationwide.
