Description:
This is one of the creation stories of the Aka people, who live in the tropical rainforests of the Congo Basin. It begins with a time when women and men lived separately. Then, Toli, the first woman, ventured into the forest and encountered the men – strong creatures who climbed trees and gathered honey. Toli believed they should all live together after tasting their honey. Akaya, Kengole, Dibota, and their families, who are hunters-gatherers and skilled storytellers, guide us through their world, explaining their origins, myths, and the spiritual meaning of life.
