Description:
This film chronicles the Arkansas school integration crisis and its lasting impact. It follows the lives of nine African-American students who integrated Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the fall of 1957. Seven years later, the film documents the perspectives of Jefferson Thomas and his fellow students. The story centers on their courageous entry into Little Rock High, escorted by armed troops amidst a hostile crowd. They share their firsthand impressions of the past and present, along with their hopes for what lies ahead. Their brave actions helped overcome the integration crisis and ushered in a new era. This film received an Academy Award® for Best Documentary Short in 1964.
