Description:
Carl-Henning (Jasper Klein) works as an apprentice on a dairy farm in the Danish marsh. In his free time, he repairs a broken-down car and longs for a local girl who is a student. After drinking too much, he steals money from the farm's cash register. Caught by the foreman, Carl-Henning is assaulted. He defends himself, accidentally causing the foreman to fall down stairs. Believing he has killed him, Carl flees and joins a traveling carnival. Though the foreman only suffers a minor injury and forgives him, Carl never hears he's welcome back. He embarks on a series of adventures that lead him far from the farm.
