Description:

This film, winner of the 1954 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short, follows the children at The Royal School for the Deaf in Margate, Kent. It shows the hearing-handicapped children learning to speak through exercises and games, practicing lip-reading, and striving for communication. Richard Burton's gentle, often poetic narration enhances the film's uplifting portrayal of the children’s resilience.
