Description:

When African-American teenager Spence Scott is expelled from his private school after a disagreement with a teacher, he seeks guidance from his grandmother. Living in a predominantly white community with mostly white friends, Spence feels like an outsider. Seeking connection, he visits a bar in a black neighborhood and encounters some prostitutes, but finds no solace. He eventually forms a friendship with Christine, the housekeeper, who shares her own challenging life story with him.
