This film is based on the 1880s English comic novel by George and Weedon Grossmith. It chronicles the daily life of Charles Pooter, a London clerk, his wife Carrie, their son Lupin, and their circle of friends and acquaintances over 15 months through his diary entries. The story follows the hapless Victorian man as he wryly observes the everyday absurdities of suburban life, navigating frustrating interactions with pushy tradesmen, difficult friends, and his son's mischievous escapades, all with humor that is often missed.
