Description:
In 1908, Helmi is born into the home of Baron von Strandmann in Old Town Tallinn. Her only certainty about her past is that her mother was an Estonian servant. Over the course of a century, Helmi’s life is full of unexpected turns. Within the house, she experiences joy and heartbreak, love and disillusionment, growing up with young Erik while awaiting her true love. However, projectionist Julius, who lives below, harbors a strong affection for her. The house witnesses all the major historical events of the century, its floors echoing with soldiers' boots and gentlemen’s shoes, its walls holding the stories of diverse people. It transforms from a German salon to a revolution museum and finally, a working-class community. As freedom arrives, unscrupulous real estate developers begin to take notice.
