Description:
In the remote Congo Basin, a forgotten village called Lossi is being re-established. Explorer joins primatologist Magdalena Bermejo as she pioneers research on western lowland gorillas in their natural habitat, inspired by Jane Goodall's work. With the help of local trackers, Bermejo and her team analyze signs in the forest – crushed leaves, plant stems, and animal dung. Their efforts are rewarded when they discover a gorilla family just outside Lossi, watched over by watchful eyes in the trees. Bermejo focuses on a large, 350-pound silverback she names Apollo and his family. Explorer takes viewers deep into equatorial Africa, amidst challenging insects, for an intimate look at Apollo and his tribe.
