Description:
After spending the night with Orsola in a woodman's hut, Pietro is wrongly arrested. His mother and youngest sister, Rosaria, plead with Orsola to provide an alibi to clear his name. However, Orsola's brother, Rocco, fearing scandal, forces her to remain silent. Pietro is condemned and escapes prison, but is hunted down and killed by the police along with his mother, witnessed by Rosaria. Years later, Rocco finds a young woman frozen in the snow. He brings her home and asks Orsola to care for her. Eventually, persuaded by Orsola, Rocco and his son, Salvatore, allow the woman to stay. Salvatore falls in love with her, unaware she is Rosaria, Pietro's sister, who has returned seeking revenge for her brother and mother's deaths.
