Description:
Get Cracking is a 1943 British comedy war film directed by Marcel Varnel and starring Dinah Sheridan, Ronald Shiner, and George Formby. Produced by Marcel Varnel, Ben Henry, and Columbia (British) Productions, the film centers on the playful rivalry between mechanic and Home Guard Lance Corporal George Singleton (George Formby) and a fellow Home Guard member (Ronald Shiner). When Singleton's and his rival's Home Guard units are deployed for battle exercises, he orchestrates a daring raid on Major Wallop's unit to steal a Vickers machine gun. The raid is unsuccessful, resulting in Singleton losing his rank. He and a young evacuee girl named Irene (Vera Frances) then decide to build their own tank as a backup plan.
