"We Came Home" follows Afghan-American musician Ariana Delawari as she explores her heritage through the lens of Afghanistan. Born in Los Angeles the year the Soviets invaded, Ariana's childhood is shaped by the influx of Afghan refugees and her father's unwavering commitment to his homeland. Following 9/11, her parents relocate to Kabul to aid in rebuilding. For a decade, Ariana divides her time between Los Angeles and Afghanistan, documenting the country through photography, film, and music. Amidst the Taliban's rise, she collaborates with master musicians in Kabul on an album, revealing the difficulties of progress. Ariana confronts the realities of war and corruption when her father is arrested, leading her to understand his deep connection to Afghanistan and the importance of remembering its people.
