Description:
Following the end of the Siege of Osaka, this film portrays several members of the fallen Toyotomi clan struggling to survive amidst the aftermath and the Shogun's army's brutal crackdown. Faced with the destruction of their cause, five samurai contemplate their options. One seeks a final, honorable death in direct combat. Another plans a ritual suicide (hari-kiri) at a scenic location. His friend, considered a coward, simply desires to flee and abandon his samurai life. The remaining two choose to burn their own castle in the hope of gaining favor with the enemy and avoiding death during the massacre of the defeated soldiers.
